The Candela P-12 is our latest innovation—the world’s first electric hydrofoil ferry in operation, serving commuters in Stockholm and soon expanding to several other countries. By combining lightweight carbon fiber hulls, sensors, computers, and advanced submerged hydrofoils, our vessels fly above the water, delivering unmatched efficiency compared to conventional diesel ferries.
We are now looking for a Powertrain Engineer to support Candela’s growth ambitions. In this role you will be driving the development for one or more components and functionalities in the Powertrain system throughout the complete lifecycle. We take responsibility and drives the development from concept through industrialization and all the way to our demanding customers.
This is a team, that plays an instrumental role in the development of our vessels and consists of skilled engineers and experts with extended knowledge and experience of all critical high voltage components that is needed to make the boats fly. When joining Candela and the Powertrain team you will be part of a team that is in the forefront in the world of electrification.
Your core responsibilities will include:
- Own the Propulsion system, from charging inlet to electric machines, as well as cabin HVAC and low-voltage actuators.
- Define and set requirements for system, system behavior and components.
- Secure that the system can be certified according to applicable standards.
- Evaluate and test performance, functionality and quality of the system.
- Interact with and support the software team to help achieve ultimate functionality and performance of the control systems.
- Support after market and service to ensure the best possible customer experience.
- Support production and procurement to secure products with competitive quality and cost.
To be successful in the role:
We’re looking for a future team member with experience and motivation to work with electrical components, high voltage applications and powertrain system. The new team member shouldn't be just technically skilled, but also a creative mind to push ideas further.
Required qualifications
- Master's degree in Engineering or similar
- You have prior experience, education or strong interest in high voltage powertrains and an engineering degree in a relevant field.
- You have fundamental knowledge of electrical rotational machines, motor controller topologies or batteries.
- You have system experience and a good understanding of how to integrate components into a system realizing complex functionality.
- Self propelled with a strong drive and feel confident to work in a dynamic environment with high pace, shifting focus and strong market presence.
- Excellent communication skills in English and team-oriented attitude
