At Candela, Research & Development is where aerospace-grade engineering meets sustainable marine transportation. Our mission is to make electric vessels fly above water using hydrofoil technology, reducing energy consumption by up to 80% while delivering a faster, quieter, and emission-free passenger experience.
Our R&D teams bring together experts in dynamic modeling, hydrodynamics, control theory, machine learning, image and signal processing, hardware and electronics design, structural engineering, software development, and electric propulsion. Working across disciplines, we develop the technologies that enable our vessels to maintain stable flight, optimize energy efficiency, and operate safely in real-world marine environments.
Based in Frihamnen, Stockholm, Sweden, our engineers design and develop everything from hydrofoil systems and carbon-fiber structures to high-voltage powertrains, embedded software, autonomous navigation capabilities, and advanced flight-control systems. We take products from concept and simulation through testing, industrialization, and production.
