The Candela P-12 is our latest innovation—the world’s first electric hydrofoil ferry in operation, serving commuters in Stockholm and soon expanding to several other countries. By combining lightweight carbon fiber hulls, sensors, computers, and advanced submerged hydrofoils, our vessels fly above the water, delivering unmatched efficiency compared to conventional diesel ferries.
We are now looking for a dual role - a Director to lead Interior Development & Project Management to support Candela’s growth ambitions. In this position, you will lead the development of interior with internal and external resources as well as being on top of and drive R&D projects and development processes.
You can expect to:
- Be responsible for the interior development, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements as well as meeting targets for weight, cost and quality.
- Lead and manage R&D projects (sometimes hands-on) by setting ambitious yet achievable goals.
- Develop a long-term technical roadmap and strategy for interior development at Candela, including resource planning, budgeting and partnership needs.
- Be responsible for the product development process and drive for improvements.
- Be the connection in discussions regarding interior development and project management with internal stakeholders as well as suppliers.
- Identify and communicate design and implementation risks related to the interior systems.
- As part of R&D leadership team contribute to a high performing R&D unit.
- Support team development by managing appraisals, salary reviews, and ongoing competence development.
To be successful in the role, you:
- Hold a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Bring 5+ years of experience in leading engineering teams
- Have hands-on experience in interior design and product development, including relevant manufacturing processes
- Possess deep knowledge of regulatory requirements related to interior design, preferably from the aviation, automotive, train or marine industries
- Have strong project management skills and experience in establishing new workflows or processes
- Are familiar with CAD and PLM tools
- Are familiar with Jira and Confluence for task and project planning
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment, maintaining attention to detail and focus
- Are goal-oriented, analytical, and persistent in achieving results

This is a full-time position at our headquarter in Frihamnen. Working language is English, if you also know Swedish it will be a benefit for yourself, but it is not a prerequisite for the role.
