Candela isn’t just entering new markets - we are introducing people to a new way of moving on water.
Nakul Virat, Chief Commercial Officer, EMEA Sales
What's your role in Candela?
I joined Candela in February 2024 as Chief Commercial Officer. Today, I lead all of Candela’s business across India, the Middle East and Africa, with a focus on building our presence in these markets and bringing Candela’s revolutionary technology to more customers and communities. It’s an exciting opportunity to help shape markets that are just beginning to discover what electric, high-speed water transportation can do.
What do you enjoy about working at Candela?
I love the product and, equally importantly, I love the people. There is something very special about working with a team that is deeply passionate about what we are building. Everyone is united by a belief that water transportation can and should be better: cleaner, quieter and more efficient.
What makes Candela particularly exciting is that we are not just improving an existing product; we are helping create a completely new category of transportation.
How is your role impacting Candela mission?
My role is about helping Candela bring its technology to the world. By opening new markets, building trusted relationships and helping customers understand the value of our vessels, I help turn our technology and vision into real-world transportation solutions through multilateral partnerships.
For me, the most rewarding part is seeing an idea move from a conversation with a customer to an actual vessel on the water—and knowing that it can change how people move, while making transportation more sustainable. I am also helping Candela scale globally.
What would you tell someone who's thinking about joining the team?
Come with curiosity, ambition and a willingness to roll up your sleeves. We work hard, we have fun, and we are on a mission to revolutionize water transportation. Candela has an extraordinary product, a huge market opportunity and a lot still to prove.
The potential is massive, but what makes the journey special is the people you get to do it with. If you want to be part of building something that could fundamentally change an industry, take the plunge.
